First-time Washington State business owner? Think you might need an LLC?

I can form your Washington LLC for you … BUT … I’d much rather help you do it yourself! I call it the Self-Help Route.

If you’re going to run a company, you should understand the steps that go into making it official. That’s not possible if someone else does all the work for you. Starting an LLC in Washington is simple and cheap. It essentially consists of: (1) submitting an LLC application, (2) applying for a business license (and maybe a trade name), and (3) obtaining a federal Employer Identification Number.

I like to help people through all three steps in a way that allows them to be involved and doesn’t cost them an arm and a leg. If you choose the Self-Help Route, it’ll cost you:

  • $75 for an initial consultation.

  • $400 Paid to The Longhair Lawyer (includes: reviewing each application with you; a generic LLC Operating Agreement; and an overview memorandum explaining upcoming filing requirements, licensing requirements, and how to obtain a bank account).

  • $200 Paid to the WA Secretary of State (to cover the cost of your online LLC application ($180 if you do it by mail).

  • $90 Paid to the WA Department of Revenue (to file your Washington business license application - an additional $10 for each trade name you wish to reserve).

***Please note your business may need to file for additional city endorsements, WA Department of Licensing applications, and have other costs that cannot be predicted prior to a consultation. Filing and guidance on these items is not included.

***Please note that specialized operating agreements and S-Corp-ready operating agreements are not included with the Self-Help Route.
